2nd Expectant Parents Seminar – 30 July 2011
Wow! What a fantastic and successful seminar we had! It was held at the beautiful Life Carstenhof Clinic in Midrand with 70 people (35 couples) who attended the seminar. All our moms were expecting twins except for 2, who were pregnant with triplets. Each couple / single person received a NUK bag filled with wonderful goodies and baby products. A big thank you to all our sponsors who made a contribution towards the prizes and goodie bags!
There were 8 exhibitors who displayed and sold their products AND who also donated wonderful prizes towards our raffle.

I (mom of pigeon pair) started the seminar with a talk on how the multiple development works. Then Erika Steyn (midwife, nurse and mom of 4 kids including twins) did a talk on prem babies and breastfeeding multiples. During the tea break we enjoyed snacks which TS Africa Catering Solutions provided.

Steve Roberts (dad of pigeon pair) entertained us all with his brilliant Dad talk, giving all the “dads to be” a perspective of a man’s view on things after birth.

During the last talk, I covered all the equipment one would need for multiples as well as a couple of tips everyone can use at home.
We had lovely prizes that were won in our raffle and some people even won more than once!

KZN also had a very successful seminar with 30 people who attended; of which one couple is expecting triplets. Benita Enoch from Nanny 101, and Alllison Strauss from Lasting Impressions Beauty Studio were their guest speakers, covering Infant Apnea & CPR and Pregnancy & Baby Massage respectively. Edie (our KZN chairlady) would like to extend a warm word of thanks to all the sponsors for the lovely hampers and goodies in the bags, and also to Parklands Hospital, in particular Suraiya Vaizie, who provided the venue and shared in the costs of the refreshments.
Here is some of the feedback I received from members in Gauteng:

Thank you so much for a wonderful session on Saturday. Cobus and I found it very informative and practical. The information imparted was relevant and helpful.

Thank you for the lovely giveaways and prizes, I was absolutely bowled over when I unpacked everything at home.
Take care and all the best. Peta-Jane Grové

Just a quick note to you and the team at SAMBA to say thank you very much for the professional seminar on Saturday; I found it both informative and relaxed.
Job well done to all. Jennifer Murphy

Thank you for such a worthwhile seminar! I think I am more nervous than ever now!! But very worthwhile info so thank you! Karen Garbini

Baie dankie vir Saterdag se seminaar. My man moes dit alleen bywoon, want my vriendinne het per ongeluk my babatee op die dieselfde dag gereel.

Janine Ferreira

Thank you to everyone who attended the seminar and thank you to my committee members who assisted me on the day as well as the committee members who assisted Edie in KZN!

Life Carstenhof Clinic, Midrand

We had such a lovely seminar at the Life Carstenhof Clinic in Midrand with 42 people who attended.  3 couples were expecting triplets and 1 couple was expecting quads!!

Each couple received a wonderful goodie bag (NUK sponsored some wonderful bags) which contained all kinds of products and magazines.  They also received an EPS book which will guide and help them on their new journey after their multiples have been born.

Our guest speakers were:  Erika Steyn (breastfeeding), Stephen Roberts (Dad Talk), Anel Beneke (Supertwin and prem talk) and Jacqui Flint (Baby Love routines).

We had raffles during the course of the day and we had so many great prizes which were won!

We also had the following exhibitors:  Esther Helm Photography, The Baby Works, Tres Beau & Babyproofessionals.

It was a long day filled with so much information, but I trust that all the expectant parents went home, geared and ready for their multiples.

KZN Expectant Parents Seminar: 12 March 2011 Feedback

We had a bumper seminar in KZN - 14 couples attended, of which one couple are expecting triplets.  Besides the discomfort caused by the air conditioners that were tripping all the time on a 35ºC humid day in Durban, everyone’s feedback was very positive.

Leanne Naidoo and Benita Enoch from Nanny 101, Cynthia Fourie from Baby Love, and Sister Shanitha from Parklands Netcare Hospital were our guest speakers, covering Infant Apnea, CPR and Routines, and the SA Breast Milk Bank respectively.

As always I have to thank the committee members, some of which had quite a way to drive, and my dear husband for their assistance with the presentation, talks and administration.  Kerryn (via DVD), Nicolette, Nicole, Lorraine, Cheryl, Lesley and Christie – the seminar wouldn’t have been possible without your input!

I’d like to extend a warm word of thanks to all the sponsors for the lovely hampers and goodies in the bags, and also to Parklands Hospital, in particular Suraiya Vaizie, who provided the venue and refreshments.

The hampers were won by:

PIGEON HAMPER Natalia van der Merwe
AVENT STARTER PACKS Janet Edmonds, Stoffel Schoeman, Aritha Pillay
AVENT STERILIZERS Rheka Dayal and Michelle Rautenbach
BENNETS HAMPER Gillian de Bruyn

Seminar Feedback

Hi Edie

I would like to thank you for hosting such a brilliant seminar.
You really went out of your way to ensure that all present we comfortable, content & happy.

We loved the treats & what impressed me most was the professionalism of the entire afternoon. One would never say that it was done by volunteers. John Maxwell said that a true leader is one that can lead volunteers, as there is no numeration involved. You are a great leader & my family & I would be honored to join the organization.

The speakers were informative & interesting. My husband loved Christie's speech. (I wonder why???)

We left so much wiser & calmer knowing that having multiples is a task we can accomplish together as a family.

Love & Regards
Rekha
