Expectant Parents Seminar: 13 March 2010
Feedback – Kwa-Zulu Natal
8 Couples (and a granny) attended our first EPS (KZN) for the year. It was a small but cozy group and everyone seemed to enjoy the day. Of the couples who attended, 3 are expecting triplets, and the rest twins.
This time we tried a new venue. St. Augustine’s Hospital was very kind in letting us use their Carita’s Boardroom, which proved to be well equipped and convenient in terms of logistics and geographical location. I hope that we will be able to secure the venue for future seminars.
As always this seminar would not have been possible without the assistance and dedication from our KZN Committee. Thanks to Marita, Kerryn, Brenda, Vicky, Nicole, Vicki, Cheryl, and Jean for their contributions and efforts. Also, to my husband Christie who is always there to take care of the technical things – thank you! And lastly, to Fiona Roberts (Seminar Coordinator), a big thanks for arranging and collecting all the goodies and sending it to us in KZN, we appreciate your hard work!
I’d like to extend a warm word of thanks to our two local sponsors:
- Alison from Lasting Impressions Health & Beauty studio (specializing in pregnancy massage, stretch classes and baby massage courses) for some informative pamphlets and samples
- Chantelle from Oodles of Doodles (baby room décor and accessories) for discount vouchers and a raffle voucher.
Also to all the other sponsors (NUK, Pigeon, Bennets, Medela, Elizabeth Anne’s) a big thank you for contributing to a wonderful day!
The hampers were won by:
Raising Multiples Seminar CD: Nellayenee Pillay / Roshiela Bhogal / Leigh Waller
BENNETS Hamper: Jackie Vauqulin
AVENT Starter Pack: Jasantha Iyappa / Naomi Hardman
AVENT Sterilizer: Lavina Buddaareinarain
PIGEON Hamper: Roshiela Bhogal

Hi Edie,
It was great meeting you and the Samba members on Saturday, it was unfortunate we could not stay longer and chat as we had to rush of to a family function. I must thank you and rest of the members for a fantastic Seminar, this was very informative and we picked up many tips and advise that will help us when the twins arrive. It is really a fantastic job that you and the members are doing.
Thanks again for everything.
Regards
Lynee & Shaun Pillay
Hi Edie
Unfortunately I won’t be attending the Easter Egg Hunt as I am supposed to be on bed rest – I would have loved to have come though. Definitely next year when our 2 little bundles will be almost a year!!
I wanted to thank you all SO SO SO much for the wonderful afternoon we had on Saturday. Charlie and I so enjoyed it and left feeling so much more confident about the birth of our twins. We have both been very nervous as we haven’t known what to expect and listening to all the Mum’s chatting about their experiences and giving us advice has made us feel a lot more comfortable about things. We enjoyed every single one of the talks as everyone spoke from the heart and there was no complicated medical jargon to try and understand. I think the best thing we did was to join up with SAMBA as it is such a good feeling to know that we have such an amazing support group now. We were so amazed that you all gave up your Saturday afternoon to come and chat to us, thank you so much. Thank you also for the gift packs which contain 2 of everything!!! Please could you pass on our thanks to all the other Mums that were involved and let them know how much we enjoyed the seminar.
Thanks again Edie and hope you have a great week
Jackie and Charles Vauqulin
Dear Edie
From the both of us, I would just like to say thank you SO much for an excellent seminar on Saturday.
This seminar was better than any antenatal class I have attended, and we were both so impressed by the following:
- The friendliness and warmth of all the SAMBA people there (it felt very special being welcomed into such a great community)
- The professionalism of the presentations (the slideshow was top-class, the speakers were excellent and you did a great job of hostessing)
- The content of the material presented (everything was useful, practical and appreciated)
- The feeling it left with those who attended. We both left the seminar feeling more positive about what’s in store for us than we did before we went, and we know that whatever the road ahead of us, we have an awesome support network in SAMBA.
Lastly, it is so rare to find a non-profit organisation that is so well organised and available to its members as SAMBA. Your KZN committee would show up most companies for customer service and professionalism and outstanding value for money. We couldn’t help but leave feeling that the SAMBA committee members do this more as a ministry than a volunteer job, and we were blessed more than we could have anticipated by every aspect of the seminar.
Please thank all the SAMBA members who gave up their time to help us, and please also pass on our sincere thanks and gratitude to the sponsors, who provided such amazing gifts and hampers.
Well done and please keep up the good work! May you all be blessed as you continue to serve in such a wonderful way.
Love Naomi and Paul Hardman

Feedback – Gauteng
28 couples registered and 22 couples attended our first 2010 Gauteng seminar. The group comprised 3 couple expecting triplets and 19 expecting twins.
The seminar went very smoothly and I received such a positive response from the attendees. My thanks go to our guest speaker Erika Steyn, whose breastfeeding talk was great, as usual. Thanks also to Maryke Groenewald and Stephen Roberts for helping set up and also for their talks on supertwins and a dad’s point of view. I also could not have done it without the help of Izelle Jooste, Marion Smith and Alice Badenhorst.
Our fabulous sponsors once again ensured that we had great goody bags, tasty food and wonderful prizes to give away. Thanks go to:

Thank you to all the volunteers for arranging the day
Loved the equipment and triplet talks
Liked the Modern Dad

Realising that everything is not always about doing it according to rules and rely on your own instinct.
Room for improvement:

Suggestion of it being a bit more practical with regards to equipment
Suggestion of a little more depth with regards to what equipment to duplicate and what not to
Closer to Pretoria
Comfortable clothing
Birthing options
Fitness plan / weight loss
Feedback from Delegates:
We had a great time attending the seminar on Saturday, except for the traffic. It took us almost 3 hours to get to the venue! Anyhow, we are glad we made it! Thank you for the great goody bag, I had a field day unpacking it and smelling everything (baby creams etc). Many thanks once again for all the efforts with the seminar! It was great!
Thanks so much for Saturday, we really enjoyed it and found it so informative. You guys were great. As for the pram we went onto your website and clicked onto twinsquadsandtrips.co.za and found the most awesome pram called the 'Zoom from Germany"... We fell in love with it and ordered and Jaco delivered within two weeks and has been a star....I really think everyone should know about it before they make their final choice.
